Hello, my name is Amanda Danielle Cadena, MS OTR/L. I am a Bilingual (Spanish & English) Pediatric Occupational Therapist. I am originally from Miami, Florida, but I have lived in North Carolina since the Summer of 2007. I received a Bachelors of Science in Middle Grades Education with a concentration in English and Social Studied from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina in the Spring of 2012. I quickly realized that I had a passion for helping children with special needs and enrolled in a local community college to take prerequisites to begin my journey to become an Occupational Therapist. After a long and hard 2.5 years at Winston Salem State University’s Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, I was hooded and officially became graduate in the Fall of 2015. I was fortunate enough to land my dream job in Charlotte, NC as a Bilingual Pediatric Occupational Therapist. I took on the challenge to establish their occupational therapy services as a new grad, and I never looked back.
As a new grad, starting an occupational therapy department from scratch, I quickly realized how limited the resources were for bilingual occupational therapists. From one moment to the next, I was here working on a website/blog to help other bilingual therapists find resources, ideas, but most importantly a place where EVERYONE, even those that don’t speak Spanish, can reach our children in ways some may have never thought was possible. Hope you enjoy!
